Walden Club Trip - August 1-4, 2024

August club trip

Update 7/16/24 -

Walden, Walden, Walden it’s coming soon
It’s coming soon so get prepared.  We had a great trip to the South Fork, so this is the next adventure.
Things to think about:  One of our members has fished Walden mid-summer before and gave a strong
warning.  Mosquitoes, Mosquitoes Mosquitoes.  He recommended getting a face net if you’re going to
fish Delany’s or Lake John cuz the critters attack even on the water.
That leads to other options.  We are staying in Walden because of the availability of lodging and vicinity
to great water.  That being said if you’re not into the mosquitoes hatch, head up the mountain to Joe
Wright, Lake Agnes (1 mile walk), Ranger Lakes, Michigan Creek or many of the small streams on the
mountain.
Other options are Big Creek Lakes, The Big Laramie at Woods Landing, (Wyoming lic. required)
Chambers lake, Laramie River, or Long Draw reservoir.
I will be fixing lunch one day, more to come as it gets closer.

This trip can be a multi-day or an up and back trip for some fabulous fishing. We have decided to use Walden as a home base this year as several people recommended it last year.

Trip Captain - Rich Miles - M6111926@gmail.com

When:  August 1-4

Where are we going to fish?

Thursday afternoon and Friday: Delany Buttes, Lake John or Big Creek lakes

Saturday at Joe Wright or Long Draw, this is a long but easy day trip if you want to come for just the day.

Other options: There are several public areas for fishing streams and rivers around Walden including the Roaring Fork (Manville SWA), North Fork (Richards SWA), North Platte (Verner and Brownlee SWA's), and Michigan (Diamond J SWA). Additionally, North Gate Canyon along the North Platte.
