Meet at 7:30 am in the South parking lot, which is the 2nd parking lot that you will come to as you drive over the dam on Hwy 91.  At 12:00 Noon we will meet in the parking lot and have lunch. HPD will be cooking lunch for everyone. Please bring side dish.

Clinton Reservoir is located about 7 miles south of Copper Mountain on Hwy 91 on the way to Climax Mine/Freemont Pass/Leadville.

Note - no cell coverage there.

Clinton Reservoir is a very scenic high mountain lake that is a cutthroat trout fishery.  The lake is accessible from the shore on the north and south side.

It is an easy/moderate hike on either side of the lake, and you can stop anywhere along the shores to fish.  Bring your wading stick as it can be muddy towards the inlet.

You can also bring your belly boats/Kayaks - I actually prefer the belly boat here as shoreline access is somewhat limited.

Be aware that it is illegal to fish the inlet stream at the very eastern edge of the lake (due to spawning cutthroat). But interesting to see them, if you get to the end of the lake.

Take I-70 west to the Copper Mountain exit.  Head south towards Leadville/Freemont Pass but don't go that far.

Look for Clinton Gulch Dam Reservoir on the left (east) side of the highway, just past Mayflower Gulch.

Flies:  Fish your favorite dry/dropper rig.  Hoppers, Beetles, Hippy Stomper, Amy’s Ant, Stimulators, Rojo midges, chironomids, zebra midges, eggs.
